What vaccinations does my pet need for grooming at the Fuzzy House?

Rabies is the only vaccine required by The Fuzzy House. It is also the only vaccine that is required by law. You can either bring proof of current rabies vaccine with you to your pet’s appointment (a tag is not sufficient), or you can have your vet email it to fuzzyhouse1@gmail.com

However, it is strongly recommended that you talk to your vet and have your pet fully protected according to their age, health, and lifestyle.

How long does a grooming take?

The answer to that question is - it varies. There are a lot of variables when grooming a pet, including, but not limited to, pet’s cooperation, condition of coat, size of pet, the haircut being done, and also outside factors such as answering the phone, helping people in and out with their pets, and other unforseen factors. But, as a general rule, a basic grooming can take from 1 to 3 hours.

How much does a grooming cost?

Again the answer to that question is - it varies. There are a lot of variables when grooming a pet, including, but not limited to, pet’s cooperation, condition of coat, size of pet, the haircut being done. It is best to call, or present the pet, for an estimate.

My pet is very nervous, can I stay with him/her during grooming?

Staying with your pet may or may not make things better. That will need to be decided on a case by case basis. If your pet is nervous, it may help to bring him/her in for a couple visits just to say Hi, get some treats, or schedule a nail trim where you will be able to wait in the waiting room and watch.

I don’t think my cat will cooperate for grooming, what are my options?

I get it! If a kitty doesn’t want to do something, the kitty doesn’t do it! However, there are several options.

1) I am always willing to try first to see how kitty reacts and see how far we can get in the grooming process.

2) Your vet can prescribe an oral sedative that you can give kitty before the appointment. This may be effective in taking the edge off and allowing the grooming to be completed.

3) Your vet can give kitty an injection that will render the cat immobile, allowing for a full, thorough, and quick grooming. As a vet tech I will monitor kitty’s heart rate, respiration, and temperature while he/she is here. This needs to be a coordinated appointment between your vet and The Fuzzy House - the sedative is given at the vet’s office, then you bring the kitty to The Fuzzy House within 15 to 20 minutes.

Please note that cats are typically scheduled when dogs are NOT in the shop.
